In response to broker feedback, Aviva Canada has ramped up its commitment to the success of the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) portal, by announcing a plan to connect directly to the portal in 2005.

In the interim, Aviva Canada through its member companies (Pilot Insurance Company, Scottish & York and Traders General Insurance Company) will be guaranteeing quotes generated by brokers thorough the CSIO portal commencing March 1.

Aviva stands firm in its commitment to fairness for policyholders during this transitional period. In the event of a discrepancy between quotes generated by ISI and Aviva, Aviva will honour the lower of the two quotes, without question.

“Aviva is committed to the success of the CSIO portal,” says Igal Mayer, president & CEO, Aviva Canada Inc. “I personally believe it is an important tool for insurers and brokers alike. We have heard the concerns of our broker partners and we are taking action. We will continue to move forward in a collaboration with our brokers, to ensure this solution is effective and beneficial for all involved.”

This level of commitment from insurers is critical to the success of the portal, says Bob Fitzgerald, executive vice-president & COO, Aviva Insurance Company of Canada and chairman of the board for CSIO. “Aviva Canada is behind this project one hundred percent and it’s time for all insurers to step up to the plate,” he says. “We need to support our brokers through this change, and that means playing a full and active role in terms of participation and investment in execution.”
