Hibernian Life & Pensions announced today, Tuesday 7 September, that managing director Grant Barrans is moving to a new position within Hibernian's parent company, Aviva Group plc.
Hibernian Life & Pensions announced today, Tuesday 7 September, that managing director Grant Barrans is moving to a new position within Hibernian's parent company, Aviva Group plc. From 18 October 2004, he will join Aviva Life International with responsibility for developing life operations in some of its emerging markets.
Bryan Jenkins, chief executive officer, Hibernian Group, said, "During his eight years at Hibernian Life & Pensions Grant has been a key member of the senior management team. While it is always a disappointment to see senior executives move on, this role is an exciting opportunity for Grant to be involved in a new challenge in the development of Aviva's operations in emerging markets. His prior experience of working in South Africa and Zimbabwe enhanced his suitability for the role. We wish him every success in his new position where he will no doubt continue to be an asset to the Group."
Grant has been managing director of Hibernian Life & Pensions since 1996. During this time he has managed the integration of the life operations of Norwich Union, CGU and Hibernian Life & Pensions, following the merger of the three companies in October 2000. Since the merger, Hibernian Life & Pensions has grown its market share to third largest life and pensions company overall and it is Irelands' largest life and pensions broker company.
Bryan Jenkins will undertake the functions of managing director, Hibernian Life & Pensions in the interim period until a replacement managing director is announced. "The process of selecting a replacement is underway, and we expect to make an announcement in the near future," he said.
