Norwich Union staff have helped to raise over £220,000, including £ for £ matching from the company, for their 2002 staff charities, Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland.

Staff across the group have thrown themselves into fundraising, taking part in the ‘Life’s a Beach’ fun day, sponsored events such as white-water rafting, marathons, cycle rides, swims and walks. There have been car washes, quizzes, raffles and treasure hunts, the list is endless.

All the hard work and effort from Norwich Union staff will make a real difference to both charities in their support for people who are affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

Harry Cayton, Chief Executive from the Alzheimer's Society, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Norwich Union staff have raised such an amazing total for the Alzheimer’s Society as their Staff Charity of the Year 2002.

“The funds raised will help us reach out and support more of the millions of people in the UK whose lives are affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Alzheimer’s is incurable but the quality of living for both the carer and the person with dementia can be improved by the practical and emotional support we provide.

“Raising money is hard for us - brain disease and even old age are not easy fundraising topics and we have been warmed by the strength of support, enthusiasm and dedication of Norwich Union staff.”

Norwich Union staff have voted to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society as their staff charity for 2003.
