The Board of Directors of Hibernian Group has announced the appointment of a successor to Group Chief Executive, Pat McGorrian, who retires on schedule next June.
Bryan Jenkins, who is currently Retail Business Director of Norwich Union General Insurance in Britain, will take over as Group Chief Executive from July 1st. Mr McGorrian has successfully led the Group through an extraordinary period of change since his appointment in 1999. Under his stewardship, Hibernian Group has been acquired by CGU, has merged with Norwich Union Ireland and has absorbed Friends First’s general insurance business. Hibernian is today the largest insurance group in Ireland.
“We are delighted to have an appointment of the calibre of Bryan Jenkins to succeed Pat as Group Chief Executive,” said Peter Malone, Chairman, Hibernian Group.
“Pat has done an outstanding job in successfully integrating four businesses during his tenure. The senior management team, led by Pat, has forged a leading position in the Irish insurance market and major positions in savings and financial services, growing Group profits from €40 million euros in 1999 to €155 million euros in 2001. He leaves Hibernian in good shape and we wish him well in his retirement.”
