A mother and daughter team were overall winners in an insurance charity Christmas card design competition supported by Norwich Union.
Jackie and Felicity Youngson from Nottingham were first to see their designs roll off the press at Breckland Print Solutions.
Seven-year-old Courtney Blundell, of Aveley in Essex, the runner-up and youngest winner, was also there to see her design of the Three Kings printed.
This was the first year of this competition open to adults and children to design a Christmas card with all profits from the sale of the cards going to the Insurance Benevolent Fund. This fund donates money to people who have worked in the insurance industry and have fallen on hard times. Representing the industry at the printing press were Ben Welsh from Norwich Union, Mark Barlow, of the Insurance Charities and Jamie Marchant, of Groupama Insurance. It is hoped that the competition will become an annual event.
Ben Welsh, director of marketing and communications for Norwich Union, who arranged for the printing of the cards and who is providing the first 40,000 cards free of charge, commented: “As the UK’s leading insurance company, we feel it’s extremely important to support charities like the Insurance Benevolent Fund that help our industry. We are delighted that some of the winners have been able to see all their hard work on the front of Christmas cards.”
This project expects to earn in the region of Ł15,000 for the Insurance Benevolent fund.
