Norwich Union Healthcare's website has been relaunched to offer online premium illustrations and other new services.
The site, which previously provided only product information and had no interactive elements, now provides illustrations for health insurance within 45 seconds, as well as full details of income protection, cash plans and travel cover provided by Norwich Union Healthcare.
For existing customers there is also a special section containing an "e-magazine" of regularly updated healthcare news and information, questions and answers on health issues, guidance on how to claim, and the opportunity to feedback comments and views.
And over the next 12 months there will be a programme of further improvements and developments, including a business-to-business service, and a comprehensive e-service for independent financial advisers and brokers.
Nicole Hockley, communications manager for Norwich Union Healthcare, said: "We are very excited about the new site and the opportunities it offers.
"Previously people could only access a short summary on our products. Now there's lots of general information about the various kinds of insurance available to help them understand what they are buying.
"We've also included a decision tree which takes customers through a series of questions to determine what their needs are, and helps them to select the health insurance policy that's best for them.
"And over the coming year we'll be doing a lot more work on the site, adding more services for customers and intermediaries."
At the moment illustrations are offered for NUHC's two most popular private medical insurance products - Trust Care and Fair + Square, but this will be extended to others in the product range.
It is not yet possible to buy Norwich Union Healthcare products on-line - people can request a call-back after getting their illustration if they want to take it further.
But it is hoped to offer this facility in the future, along with many other developments to add value for customers - such as being able to administer their policies on-line.
