Malaysia: CIMB Aviva brings joy to the unfortunate children

A local project has put smiles on the faces of 25 Rumah Jagaan Kanak-kanak Nasyiatul Aisyiyah children by providing them with money to get school supplies, food, clothes and other needful items for the home.

A local project has put smiles on the faces of 25 Rumah Jagaan Kanak-kanak Nasyiatul Aisyiyah children by providing them with money to get school supplies, food, clothes and other needful items for the home.

The staff, management and board members of CIMB Aviva over the weekend gave over RM11,000 in cheque, cash and in kind to Ustazah Rohani, the founder of the home taking care of 25 orphans and abandoned children.

The donation was aimed at enabling the children equip themselves with needful items for schooling, buy food for the home, buy more clothes for the children and so forth. There were also contributions in kind such as rice, cooking oil, biscuits etc.

During the visit, 40 staffs and board members from CIMB Aviva were entertained by the children with Nasyid songs. At the same time, they were celebrated with birthday cakes brought by CIMB Aviva staffs as they never had a chance to celebrate their birthday before. In addition, Encik Izlan Izhab, the board member of CIMB Aviva presented a cheque amounting RM11,000.00 to the shelter. The donation was the proceeds from the contribution from the staffs and management of CIMB Aviva in an effort to relieve the burden of the shelter that is running with high operational cost.

This shelter is an independent welfare shelter and has been in existence since eight years ago. The shelter is currently accommodating 25 children from age of four to 14 years old.

Encik Izlan Izhab, the independent director for CIMB Aviva who also came for the visit, said that the grant to the Rumah Jagaan Kanak-kanak Nasyiatul Aisyiyah was raised by the CIMB Aviva staff (RM5,500) and then the Company has matched the amount RM1 to RM1 totaling the amount to RM11,000.

He added that they thought of giving the money to the home in conjunction with the CIMB Aviva annual staff trip to Penang. Ustazah Rohani said the beneficiaries would use the money according to their priorities.

The founder of the home, Ustazah Rohani, said that the children in the home were orphans, abandoned children and children who came from really poor families. At the home, these children are assisted to rebuild their future and are encouraged to live positively.

The founder of the home thanked CIMB Aviva for the donations and urged all Malaysians to help such disadvantaged groups.

Encik Izlan also said: "It is a good effort from the CIMB Aviva staff because of their willingness to look out for people around them that really need help and they actually help them".

He added: "We at CIMB Aviva will try to help and contribute more to this shelter to the near future. It is also one of the initiatives of the company and also staffs of CIMB Aviva to strengthen their bond with the society".

CIMB Aviva came to know about the orphanage from the Hydro Majestic Hotel staff, the hotel in which they were staying at during the trip. They were informed that the home needs all the help they can help in funding their daily needs.
