Hands on Helping Charity

Aviva enables UK employees to donate money, in a tax-efficient way, direct from their monthly salary. To raise awareness of our payroll giving schemes, we invited Hands on Helping Charity to visit Aviva Group Centre sites. As a result of this promotion there was a 6% increase in take-up.

Aviva Group Centre wins Community Impact award

We invited London Cares, an affiliate of Business in the Community (BITC), to St Helen’s to raise awareness of the volunteering activities available to Aviva Group Centre employees. This was a huge success, culminating in four team activities and participation in London Better Together Day, for which BITC presented Aviva with a Community Impact award.

The event saw St Helen’s opened up to local schools, enabling children to see what a real city establishment is like – from the basement archives to the boardroom. Our Management Committee was highly supportive of the day, offering time to greet the children and hosting a question and answer session.

The objective of the day was to break down clichéd perceptions of financial establishments and demonstrate that each and every one of us has an opportunity to succeed. It illustrated the practical application of school lessons such as maths, computer studies and English.

Aviva team members were invited to provide informal presentations about their occupation and the varied paths they each followed to arrive where they are today. We had a university graduate, a director who was previously a spy, an actress-turned-manager and an IT specialist who had joined Aviva from a catering company, to name but a few.
