Aviva's Auto Enrolment Pre-Review

Report One

Aviva has launched a Pre-Review of auto enrolment to help inform the Government’s statutory review in 2017. In our report, we reflect on the lessons learned so far and set out where we believe AE policy should go next. Our unwavering focus is to help people enjoy a secure and prosperous retirement. Our recommendations in this report are how we might all do that in practice.

The Cost of Youth Report 2016

Report Two

Aviva’s Cost of Youth report, part of our Family Finances series, looks at parents’ financing of their children’s teenage years and the challenges it brings. In doing so, it highlights the sources of pressure and influence on parental purse strings, the sacrifices parents make to support their families, the patterns of behaviour they follow and what this means for their teenagers’ financial education.

Retirement Uncovered - A study of retirement experiences and what support people want to improve them

This BritainThinks research, commissioned by Aviva, provides fresh insight on people’s expectations for retirement versus the reality. Based on significant demographic trends, it groups people into 3 cohorts: “footloose retirees” like Bob, those “working later” like Sarah, and those with “caring responsibilities” like Joanne who cares for her mum.  By using focus groups and in-depth interviews, we got under the skin of what their experience of retirement is like and what support they need in order to draw out lessons for how government, regulators as well as how the private sector engage with this important group.

Aviva Voice of New Retirement Report March 2016

This inaugural study is based on the intergenerational attitudes and experiences of 6,000 adults aged 30 and above, comparing those who have retired and those who are yet to do so. The report shows that the experience of retirement is even better than many of today’s retirees expected, suggesting that happiness and fulfilment peak in later life. But it also reveals that a lack of preparation puts younger generations’ retirement dreams in jeopardy and risks stacking the odds of enjoying a similar experience against them, unless they start saving smarter now.

Aviva Real Retirement Report Winter 2015

The UK is in the midst of a retirement savings revolution. As auto-enrolment continues to roll out and this year’s ‘pension freedoms’ bed in, a further pensions step change is in the offing. A new state pension will be introduced in April 2016, representing the most significant development of the UK state pension since retirees started collecting the first universal state pension almost 70 years ago.
The previous edition of our Real Retirement Report – Are you fit to retire? – highlighted the state pension’s vital role in closing the gap between people’s expected retirement income and what they can realistically achieve from their current savings and investments. In this edition, we delve deeper into attitudes towards the state pension and other benefits in later life.
