Malaysia: CIMB Bank launches EasyLife Health Plan
21 May 2009
CIMB Bank is offering consumers EasyLife Health Plan, a total medical and health insurance plan that covers top diseases affecting Malaysians. The plan also enables customers to manage the ever-rising medical costs, particularly in the current challenging economic condition.
Underwritten by CIMB Aviva Assurance Berhad, EasyLife Health Plan is the latest offering under the EasyLife Solutions range. It is targeted at people from all walks of life, from newborns to senior citizens. The plan provides health and hospital benefits encompassing surgical fees, daily hospital income, lump sum payment for critical illness, outpatient treatment for kidney dialysis, inpatient and outpatient treatment for cancer patients and death benefit. The plan also provides customers a fixed cash benefit, regardless of the actual cost incurred in addition to benefits received under the existing hospitalisation and surgical plan. It also offers the option for customers to renew their coverage up to 70 years old to cover post retirement medical needs.
EasyLife Health Plan was formulated after analysing the Aviva 2008 Consumer Attitudes to Savings Survey that was carried out recently. The results showed that 75% of Malaysians are worried about poor health, with 63% of them likely to be concerned of the condition in the next 5 years. More and more Malaysians are leading hectic and unhealthy lifestyles, causing many to suffer heart attacks and cancer, which are the top diseases in the list of major critical illnesses. Alarming statistics have also shown that an increased number of younger people are being diagnosed with these diseases.
Peter England, head of retail banking, CIMB Bank said: “The survey results indicate a valid concern amongst consumers and we have taken an active role in addressing these issues by addressing the needs of our customers. We are confident that EasyLife Plan is able to provide a total health plan and life protection to all Malaysians. Customers can customise the plan according to their medical and health needs by discussing with our financial advisors at any CIMB Bank and CIMB Islamic branches nationwide.”
He added that the escalating cost of medical treatment can easily affect any customer’s savings nowadays. “EasyLife Health Plan comes at the right time during the current tough economic environment when everyone is attempting to spend less and save more. The premium for EasyLife Health Plan starts as low as RM1.13 a day, and we are confident this sum will enable our customers to manage their medical expenses without affecting their savings or lifestyle,” added England.
Kevin Jones, chief executive officer, CIMB Aviva, said: “EasyLife Health Plan is the perfect fit to our existing product range under the EasyLife Solutions. It allows customers to choose and add on from a series of plans to meet their changing insurance needs at different stages of their life. Our range of products which they can select includes EasyLife Kids’, EasyLife Men and Women, EasyLife Retirement and EasyLife Money Back plans – all tailored solutions that are simple, transparent, affordable and easy to understand.”
Jones added that EasyLife Solutions comprises some of Aviva’s best bancassurance offerings in the Asia-Pacific region, which have been localised to meet the needs of Malaysians. Plans are also underway to expand the product range specifically on Takaful-related products to offer a balance of conventional and Takaful unit-linked savings, protection and investment-linked products to meet its customers’ financial and insurance needs.
