Andrew Moss is chief executive and a board director of Aviva plc. He took up his current role in July 2007.

He is responsible for the strategic development and growth of the group, and for the operational performance of its businesses.

Andrew joined Aviva as group finance director in May 2004. He was responsible for the group’s financial reporting and financial management across the world, and for the group's risk and capital management.

He oversaw the financial integration of RAC in the UK and led the industry with Aviva’s early introduction of European Embedded Value (EEV) financial reporting. He also played a key role in the acquisition of AmerUs in the USA in 2006.

Prior to joining Aviva, Andrew was director of finance, risk management and operations at Lloyd’s of London and has extensive international experience of the financial services industry.

He played a key role in successfully transforming the Lloyd’s business, including the move from three-year to one-year accounting and managing the aftermath of the 11 September tragedy.

Before joining Lloyd’s in September 2000, he was chief financial officer for the investment bank and treasury businesses at HSBC, and held a number of senior roles during his 11 years with the company.

Andrew also previously worked for Citibank NA, where he was vice-president and head of fiduciary compliance in its global investment management business.

Professional qualifications and memberships

Andrew is a chartered accountant having trained with Coopers and Lybrand, and is a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.

He is a member of the CFO Forum – a high-level discussion group formed and attended by the chief financial officers of major European insurance companies.

He is a frequent public speaker on financial reporting and practices, and an authority on risk and capital management.

Andrew holds a degree in law from Christ Church, Oxford.

Family and interests

Andrew is married and has four children. He has a keen interest in golf, rugby and gardening.
