Retirement Uncovered - A study of retirement experiences and what support people want to improve them
This BritainThinks research, commissioned by Aviva, provides fresh insight on people’s expectations for retirement versus the reality.
Based on significant demographic trends, it groups people into three cohorts:
- “footloose retirees” like Bob
- “working later” like Sarah
- “caring responsibilities” like Joanne who cares for her mum.
Using focus groups and in-depth interviews, we got under the skin of what their experience of retirement is like and what support they need. From this, we drew out lessons for how government, regulators and the private sector can engage with this important group.
