Retirement planning can be a difficult subject. A lot of people prefer not to think about it or don't always understand their options. So Norwich Union worked with a journalist on a new brochure to help educate consumers. It explains what retirement means in plain English and gives honest, unbiased advice on finding the right product. Its clear and open approach works so well that the website is now in the same style and its 'makesenseofit' micro-site guides people through the maze of investment products.
Also in the UK, Aviva launched sixsteps.org a website giving free and unbiased advice, with a simple six-step retirement planner to help people understand their financial position. Six-steps is based around six simple steps that people can follow to help them take control of their finances and prepare for their retirement. It will be rolled out internationally during 2007.
Six simple steps to retirement
In Romania, relatively few families understand the value of life assurance or take it out. To help address this issue, Aviva Romania set up Romania's first Million Dollar Round Table conference, where more than 500 people from the industry brainstormed creative ways to communicate the importance of life insurance.
