Aviva plc CSR report 2007

Aviva Asia

We are a leading provider of life insurance and investments products with businesses in Singapore, Hong Kong and China.

Key achievements in 2006

As a result of the initiatives we took to improve working conditions, we lowered employee turnover in Hong Kong from 30% in 2005 to 5% in 2006.

We set up C.A.R.E areas in all our China offices to allow employees to rest, relax or exercise during the working day.

We also developed Aviva Radio in Singapore and Hong Kong, which broadcasts news, music, game shows and competitions to all employee desktops.

In response to the problem of agent mis-selling in China and to demonstrate the importance of adhering to standards of business conduct, we put in place compulsory training for all our agents across China.

All our senior managers participated in our “Food for the Heart” year-long community programme. Their participation demonstrated the importance of getting involved in CSR initiatives to all our employees.

We have successfully raised the profile of CSR in our business units in China, Singapore and Hong Kong. We are also in the process of raising the CSR profile in our new Taiwan office.

Further information on the above achievements and additional examples of our progress across all areas of the CSR programme can be found in the attached PDF.
