Aviva plc CSR report 2007

Hibernian, Ireland

We employ over 2,000 people in 28 locations across Ireland. Our primary business activities are general insurance and life & pensions.

Key achievements in 2006

We installed Frontlines, a customer service survey system, in all our call centres. This system allows call centre agents to transfer customers to a telephone-based survey where they can answer questions on service issues and are then invited to leave comments. So far our scores have been consistently high.

We completed our successful move to our new Dublin headquarters. 1,500 employees from a number of locations now work together in one location.

We were placed in the “Top 50 companies to Work for” in Ireland for the fifth consecutive year.

To reduce our impact on the environment we worked with our contractors to ensure that our new building is as energy efficient as possible. All furniture and carpets in the building are fully recyclable. The building is also equipped with energy efficient light bulbs, which last eight times longer than conventional bulbs.

To reduce stress in the workplace and improve our working environment we created several informal areas such as tea/print stations, coffee bars and break-out areas for employees to interact during the day.

We reduced our paper consumption by 15% as a result of the introduction of our print management strategy.

We increased our recycled waste from 49% in 2005 to 52% in 2006.

Further information on the above achievements and additional examples of our progress across all areas of the CSR programme can be found in the attached PDF.
