Overview

Welcome to Aviva’s fourth corporate social responsibility (CSR) report, focusing on performance during 2004.

For Aviva, CSR governs our performance in eight related elements. These are firstly, relations with our workforce, customers, suppliers and the community, and secondly, our management of the environment, human rights and health and safety, and our adherence to standards of business conduct.

Key developments and outcomes in 2004 include:

  • Revision of CSR policy to provide for mandatory annual programme review by local CEOs.
  • Establishment of an Aviva climate change forum.
  • Increase in staff volunteering by some 65%.
  • Decrease in total CO2 emissions by 34%.
  • Increased focus on promoting diversity in the workplace.
  • Development of CSR governance at local business unit level.
