Financial calendar help

Return to financial calendar .

You can set an alert for Aviva’s key financial dates by adding the dates — either individually or all together — to your calendar application.

Calendar applications

We’ve provided information about our key financial dates in three different formats.

Icon  Outlook

Icon  iCal

Icon  Other calendars

Most calendar applications will use the ‘Outlook’ or ‘iCal’ format but if you're not sure which one you’ve got, choose the ‘Other calendars’ option.

If you do not currently have a calendar application, we would recommend using one of the following:

As Google Calendar  and Windows Live Calendar  are online services, they have a slightly different process for adding events than the others.

Add an individual date

You can add dates individually to your calendar and then set up an alert.

  • Choose which date you want to add to your calendar and then click on the appropriate calendar icon. (Most calendars will use the ‘Outlook’ or ‘iCal’ option but if you’re not sure, choose the ‘Other calendars’ one.)
  • If you want to add the date to your calendar straight away, select ‘open file’ in the dialogue box. If you want to add it later, then choose the ‘save’ option.
  • When you open the file, you’ll see a page containing information about the event. Here you can add your own notes, change the title, and set an alert (this option may be called an ‘alarm’ or an ‘alert’, depending on your calendar application).
  • You can then save the key date to your calendar.

If you’re using Google Calendar  or Windows Live Calendar  then see the instructions below.

Add all dates to your calendar

You can also add all the key financial dates to your calendar at the same time.

For most users, all you need to do is to select the appropriate calendar icon, then follow the instructions for ‘Add an individual date’ above.

However, if you are using Microsoft Outlook, you will need to follow the instructions below.

  • Click on the appropriate calendar icon. (Most calendars will use the ‘Outlook’ or ‘iCal’ option but if you’re not sure, choose the ‘Other calendars’ one.)
  • Choose the ‘save’ option in the dialogue box and save the file on your computer.
  • Start Outlook, go to ‘File’ in the menu, then select ‘Import and Export’.
  • In the dialogue box, select ‘Import an iCalendar or vCalendar file’, and then select ‘Next’.
  • Locate the calendar file on your computer and select ‘OK’.
  • All the key dates will be added to your calendar.

Google Calendar

As Google Calendar is an online service, it has a slightly different process for adding dates.

  • Choose which date you want to add to your calendar and click on the ‘Outlook’ or ‘iCal’ icon for that date.
  • Choose the ‘save’ option in the dialogue box and save the file on your computer.
  • Log in to your Google account and go to Google Calendar.
  • We suggest creating a new calendar so that Aviva dates are added independently and are displayed in a different colour, making them easier to differentiate. To do this, use the plus sign (+) in the ‘Calendars’ tool on the left of the screen.
  • Select ‘Settings’ from the options at the top-right of the screen.
  • In the following screen, select ‘Import calendar’. This allows you to import a calendar file from your own computer. Select the file you downloaded from the Aviva site.
  • The next step asks you to choose your calendar. Choose the one you’ve just created.
  • Finally, select ‘Import’.
  • If the upload has been successful, you can start browsing the calendar immediately.
  • If there has been a problem, try the steps outlined above again, using the ‘Other calendars’ file instead.

Windows Live Calendar

Windows Live Calendar, the online service associated with Hotmail, also has a unique process for adding dates.

  • Choose the ‘Outlook’ option under ‘Download all dates’. You should receive a file called aviva-financial-calendar-all.ics
  • Visit calendar.live.com or open the Calendar link in your Hotmail
  • Select ‘Subscribe’ from the options above your calendar
  • Select the radio button ‘Import from an ICS file’
  • Using the ‘Choose file’ option, import aviva-financial-calendar-all.ics from your computer
  • Give the calendar a name and colour, select any charm you want to associate with the dates and choose your reminder options
  • Select ‘Import calendar’. Windows Live will confirm that you are importing the calendar, then confirm that you have been successful and tell you how many events have been added.
