Appointed to the board of Aviva plc in January 2010.
Currently a non-executive director of Macquarie Bank and Macquarie Group and a member of the advisory council at General Enterprise Management Services International Ltd. Mr Hawker was recently appointed chairman of The Australian Rugby Union. He is also council member of the International Rugby Board and a director of SANZAR, the joint venture between the Australian, New Zealand and South African rugby unions. He is also currently chairman of The George Institute and a director/trustee of the George Institute for Global Health (UK).
Mr Hawker brings to the board significant knowledge and experience of the global financial services industry. His previous roles include chief executive and managing director of Insurance Australia Group from 2001-2008. He was also formerly a group executive at Westpac Banking Corporation and held a number of senior capital markets roles at Citibank in Australia and Europe.
