Aviva France organised a fundraising day for employees and local residents at its Montaigne offices recently as part of the Telethon to raise money for AFM (Association Française contre les Myopathies).

AFM is an organisation established in 1958 to fund research into overcoming the debilitating condition of Muscular Dystrophy.

The Telethon is an annual 24-hour nationwide fundraising initiative, and this year almost 600 people came out to participate in Aviva France's relay and tackle the 600m circuit of the Parc des Bruyères, Bois Colombes. Aviva donated €2 (£1.84) to AFM for each completed lap of the park.

A total of 5,800 laps were run and €11,600 (£10,654) was raised in the 24 hours. This was added to the €2,785 (£2,558) collected internally at Aviva, which was matched 100% by the company, giving a total of €17,170 (£15,770) - €3,575 (£3,283) more than was raised in 2007.

The event organised by Aviva was the biggest Telethon fundraiser in the area, ahead of those organised by the mayoral districts of Bois-Colombes and Courbevoie.
