Russia: Aviva supports children’s hospital for New Year
Date: 12 Jan 2009
As part of its CSR strategy Aviva Russia gave 300,000 Rubles (£7,050) allocated for its clients' New Year's gifts to the charity foundation Podari Zhizn ("Give life").
More than 500 clients and partners received New Year postcards instead of traditional diaries and calendars.
The money will provide a new ventilating system for a hospital for children suffering from haematological illnesses and cancer.
After chemotherapy treatment a child's immune system is severely weakened and any infection can kill them. The new ventilating equipment will provide fungus-free air, which is crucial to their well being.
It's a tradition for Aviva Russia to donate money allocated for New Year's gifts to charity. Last year the company provided 300,000 Rubles for a transplant cleaning device that has helped to save a lot of children's lives.
