UK: Aviva sponsors gay youth event
Date: 07 Jul 2008
Aviva sponsored the Stonewall 2008 Gay Youth Event at London's City Hall on Saturday 7 June as part of its three-year agreement to support the conference.
The participants were all aged between 16 and 25 and the day's activities included speeches from actor Ian McKellen and UK snowboarding champion Jo Chastney on achieving your ambitions.
There were also four practical workshops looking at different aspects of sexual orientation and self-esteem, plus a theatre performance led by Rikki Beadle-Blair.
The day also gave youngsters the opportunity to meet with other young people who may have faced the same difficulties in coming to terms with and feeling confident about their sexual orientation.
Feedback on the event was overwhelmingly positive with 94% of delegates rating the event as either "very good" or "good".
