Over 325 Aviva Lithuania employees, financial consultants, relatives and friends collected around 460 bags of rubbish, weighing in at eight tonnes, during a clean-up operation in the country's cities.
The "Aviva talka - žalia Lietuva" (Aviva for a Green Lithuania) project, took place in 13 Lithuanian towns from April to the middle of May.
"We wanted to unite people in doing good work that they might not get around to doing individually," said Aviva Lithuania managing director Asta Ungulaitienė.
The project is a continuation of the work started two years ago, when employees and consultants helped to clean up the Lithuanian coast, and is part of the business's CSR strategy to encourage companies, employees and clients in the country to care for the environment.
"By acting together we are surely capable of changing the environment we work and live in. I think we managed to give an example of how not to be indifferent to the world around us," said Aviva Lithuania managing director Asta Ungulaitienė.
