First-Aviva launched a series of staff energy-saving campaigns to support Earth Day on 22 April.

Earth Day is a global initiative to raise public awareness of environmental programmes and build community activities.

On Earth Day, First-Aviva's staff all wore sky-blue shirts, took public transportation and got off two stops ahead and walked to the office.

They also took the stairs to the rooftop of the office building to attend the month's staff meeting.

Christopher Knight, First-Aviva CEO announced the beginning of First-Aviva's 2008 staff energy-saving campaign. Aviva Taiwan first collected employee suggestions to support the summer "lights out" campaign last year. All employees have been very supportive and enthusiastic about the campaign.

In addition to turning off lights and computers and wearing light clothes, they came up with 20 creative ways to save energy, such as staff energy-saving contests and encouraging staff to ride bicycles.

This year, First-Aviva gathered more fun ideas for the campaign. First-Aviva cooperates with a tea shop near the office, offering discounts if First-Aviva's staff bring their own container.

First-Aviva also invited experts in environmental protection issues to the office to share ways to implement "carbon decreasing" ideas in employees' daily lives.

Christopher Knight said: "I'm pleased to see First-Aviva fulfil Aviva's commitment on the environment and tackling global warming. First-Aviva will continue to implement corporate social responsibility, doing our bit to build a better future for the next generations."
