Teamwork is central to what we do. Teams work best when they recognise and use the strengths of the individuals within them, with everyone doing the best job they can and having fun along the way.

Working in a team can be a real pleasure and we can all take pride in our team's performance. It's a matter of respecting each other and celebrating the importance of our individual personalities.

If we all take pride in Aviva's values, we'll all be working together towards the same goals - and this makes for a much stronger team.

Each year we carry out a global employee survey (all our business units take part) to get direct feedback from our people, telling us where we're strong and where we need to improve.

We collect the information to act on, not just to gather dust. As well as a global business plan, we use the results to come up with local action plans too. It's important for all our employees to feel that Aviva's a great place to work - and what better way to check our progress than by asking?

We were pleased to find out that 65% of employees in 2009 said they are extremely satisfied with Aviva as a place to work. We hope for even better results over the coming years.
