The 31-year-old Russian’s appointment was announced on 4 May 2006.

Vladimir topped the BBC Music Magazine’s poll of the world’s top young conductors in 2004, and earlier this year London’s Time Out magazine named him classical artist of the year.

For the past three years, he has been the LPO’s principal guest conductor as well as music director at Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

As one of the LPO’s longest-standing supporters, Aviva is keen to support the orchestra’s development. Last year, for example, the group helped launch a new endowment fund to help secure the LPO’s future for generations to come.
