Born March 1917. Entered company service on 10 July 1933 in the postal department. A well known Perth tennis and football player. Joined the Army on 22 December 1939 when he was a member of the burglary department. Chosen to play football in the British Army team against the French Select. Certificate of Merit awarded c March 1945. Killed on active service in a traffic accident in Western Europe. His death war reported in the "Our Boys" newsletter as follows: "It is with much grief that we have to refer once more to Archie Harris, who unfortunately was fatally injured in a road motor smash on the Continent. Archie was a prime favourite in the (burglary) department, and it is difficult to think that he will not return." |
