Thomas Daniel Thomson Appointed 1900. Awarded for "conspicuous gallantry and initiative in command of a patrol of two men. About a mile from the front line he met and immediately attacked an enemy party of 15, killed two or three and wounded several more, and then fought a rearguard action back towards his line. He received five bullet wounds, but succeeded in driving off the enemy and bringing his men back, both of whom were wounded. He displayed splendid courage and determination."
