Lion Life and Accident Insurance Company
The Lion Life and Accident Insurance Company was established in 1880 as the Lion Life Assurance Company Ltd. A sister company of the Lion Fire Insurance Company Ltd, it offered life, annuity, endowment and accident insurance and specialised in combined life and accident policies.

The company changed its name around 1882 to the Lion Life and Accident Insurance Company Ltd. In 1883, the company was liquidated. Its life business was transferred to the British Empire Mutual Life while its accident business was taken over by the Ocean, Railway and General Accident Assurance Company Ltd, which became a subsidiary of the Commercial Union Assurance Company Ltd in 1910.
