Automotor Finance Ltd

A subsidiary of the Scottish Automobile and General Insurance Company, Automotor Finance was established in 1929 to offer hire purchase facilities for motor cars to Scottish Automobile and General customers.

Company History

In 1933, Scottish Automobile and General and its subsidiaries were acquired by the General Accident Fire and Life Assurance Corporation Ltd. The company went into liquidation in August 1964.

Did you know...?

John George Haigh, later notorious as the acid bath murderer, had been an employee of Automotor Finance. Haigh was caught trying to embezzle funds from the company and was fired.
