We are one of the leading companies in the Spanish life and pensions insurance sector and the leader in the bancassurance sector. We market our products through strategic alliances with some of the main Spanish savings banks – Bancaja, Caixa Galicia, Unicaja, Caja España, Caja Granada and Caja de Ahorro de Murcia – and through professional broker via Aviva Vida y Pensiones.

We’re the fourth-largest life insurance provider, with a market share of 7%, and fourth for individual pensions, with 6.9%. We hold second place for savings business with an 8.19% market share. More than 95% of our sales are via our bancassurance network of over 4,600 branches. We’ve 330 staff.

Our history in Spain dates back to 1884, when Commercial Union opened a branch in Barcelona, before expanding across the country. In 2000, Aseval joined the group, followed by insurance companies Unicorp Vida, Bia Galicia and Caja España Vida in 2001. We formed General Vida in 2002, then entered a joint venture bancassurance partnership with Spanish savings bank Caja de Ahorros de Murcia in June 2007. Read more about our history.
